Dry Brushing 101
I feel like there has been a lot of talk in the health community lately about dry brushing. I heard so many good things about it & a lot of people were seeing great results. So at the beginning of the year (2018), I decided to try it for myself & see what all the hype was about. And let me tell you, YOU NEED TO DO IT! It has changed the look & feel of my skin so much just this month!
Why Should I Dry Brush?
Dry Brushing benefits the largest organ in the body. The Skin. Brushing the skin helps remove dead skin cells which will dramatically change the look & feel. It helps get the lymphatic system moving & assists blood circulation. By getting these important systems of the body flowing, you are allowing toxins to release from the body, making it function more efficiently. Releasing these toxins also helps eliminate cellulite. Dry brushing also rejuvenates the nervous system by stimulating the nerve endings. It feels pretty great, too! If you are trying to tone up, then dry brushing might help you because it helps distribute fat deposits more evenly. Still not convinced? Dry brushing also helps to eliminate clogged pores, allowing your skin to absorb more nutrients!
How To Start
I like to dry brush right after I get up in the morning, but you can honestly dry brush at any time during the day. Always do it before you shower/bathe though, your skin must be as dry as possible. I like to brush in the morning because it helps wake me up & get my lymph system & blood flowing. With your dry brush in hand, start at your feet/ankles. Brush up in long strokes up your legs towards your heart. Always towards your heart- that's important because the lymphatic fluid flows towards your heart. Work up the legs on all sides then move up the hips. Gently brush your belly & chest. Next move on to you arms starting at the wrists and moving towards your shoulders. I like to gently brush my neck & back starting at the back of my head, going down to the lower back. Make sure you are careful around sensitive skin especially blemishes, sun-burn, etc. Once you have done your whole body, you can carry on with your day! Take a shower, get dressed, whatever! Most people like to brush right before they shower to wash away dead skin cells. I brush anytime I can whether that's right before a shower or not.
I focus mostly on brushing my hips & butt. Those parts of my body have the most cellulite & stretch marks. Of course having both of those things are completely natural & normal, I just love the results I have seen since I have started brushing daily! My stretch marks have really faded & what little celulite I did have has disappeared! It's amazing. I have seen a dramatic change in the look & feel of my skin. Trust me, I will not be stopping! I like to moisturize after I brush to help my skin rejuvenate. I personally love using coconut oil.
