Best Vegan Food In NYC

On the weekend of June 9th, I went on trip to New York City to explore and learn more about good vegan food. At the very bottom of this post is my vlog of most of the food mentioned! Check it out! I wanted to try as many places as I could, so here is what I found!

The Butcher's Daughter

all vegetarian and dairy-free restaurant (they serve eggs) in multiple locations in nyc including West Village. I tried the Nacho Libre, and The Butcher's Burger. Both absolutely delicious! The nacho chips are homemade and come loaded with vegan cheddar cheese, smashed avocado, chilli, vegan sour cream, and pico de gallo. The burger was amazing as well. Toasted brioche bun with a veggie-black bean burger, vegan swiss, tomato, lettuce, and sauteed onions served with heavenly potato wedges and a spicy mayo sauce. Perfect for brunch (they have an amazing brunch menu), lunch, or a dinner date! They also have smoothies, juices, alcoholic beverages and lots of different kinds of teas and coffees.

Juice Generation

all vegan juice and smoothie shop with many locations all over the city. Throughout the weekend I went there twice and got an Almond Butter Bliss Acai Bowl and a MR. Greengenes green smoothie. Both hit the spot perfectly. The acai bowl was one of the best I've ever had! Made with acai, bananas, blueberries, almond butter, and almond milk. And then topped with hemp granola, sliced bananas and strawberries, coconut shavings, and more almond butter! Seriously heaven! Perfect for a quick snack to fuel your city adventures!

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream

Not all vegan but has LOTS of great options! About 10 vegan flavors all the time and special flavors varying on the location. Many stores in the city but they also have an adorable ice cream truck that comes to events! I got to try 'The Vegan' which is a special sundae with two flavors of vegan ice cream (I tried salted caramel and chocolate), vegan whipped cream, cacao nibs, chocolate sauce, and walnuts. Then I also got an ice cream cone (regular cones are vegan, waffle cones are not) with a scoop of the chocolate chip cookie dough (which is my absolute favorite flavor of ice cream ever!). Ths ice cream was so satisfying and tasted just like regular dairy ice cream! They use a mixture of coconut cream and cashews in their vegan ice cream bases. All of their flavors sounded incredible and I'm sure I would love them all!

By CHLOE

An all vegan restaurant with 7 locations within nyc but over 10 locations nationwide. I went to the one in West Village and it had the cutest atmosphere and decor. They had a very extensive menu to choose from and a large variety of baked goods. All of their salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes (including mac and cheese), and brunch items sounds delicious! I was able to try the Guac Burger (Whole Grain Bun, sweet potato, black bean, and quinoa patty, with guacamole, red onion, lettuce, tomato, corn salsa, and tortilla strips. Served with a spicy chipotle aioli.) and the sweet potato fries. Both their regular fries and sweet potato fries are made with an air frier to eliminate some of the unnecessary oil, which I appreciate. They make a beet ketchup that is quite delicious and goes very well with the burger and fries. I also enjoyed some 'chill by chloe' which is basically vegan ice cream in a small container that comes in many different flavors. I tried the boston cream pie flavor which was phenomenal. Along with the ice cream I wanted to try some bakery items. We took some chocolate chip cookies, a slice of chocolate chip banana bread, and a cinnamon mocha cookie for the road. They all hit the spot!

Peace Food

An all vegan restaurant and bakery with two locations in nyc. They have a very extensive menu consisting of salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, and even raw food including sushi rolls and lasagna! Their bakery counter is always stocked with the yummiest looking desserts including cheesecakes, raw pies, cookies, scones, muffins, and cakes. I tried a mini brownie that was super moist and fudgy and a slice of the carrot cake! The carrot cake itself had so much texture from the nuts and grated carrot. The 'cream cheese' buttercream was so delicious and tasted exactly like regular dairy icing!

Chloe's Fruit

An all vegan company that makes delicious frozen treats! They have frozen fruit soft serve, popsicles, fruit smoothies, and breakfast inspired treats like acai bowls, parfaits, and waffles! I tried the pineapple soft serve in a pretzel cone and it was perfect! The sweet mixed with the salty was amazing. I also tried the mango soft serve in a cup with lots of fruit toppings! So yummy! Great place to go on a hot day for a quick, guilt-free treat! All of their soft serve is made from frozen fruit, water, and organic cane sugar!

Double Zero

An all vegan restaurant part of the Plant Lab culinary school with only one location. On their menu they have artisan nut cheese platters, fancy pizzas (with gluten-free options), salads, roasted veggies, and rich desserts. They also have a list of organic and sustainable wines to choose from. All of their pizzas and roasted veggies are cooked in a custom wood burning oven. I tried the Farro-Fennel Sausage, Tomato, and Cashew Mozzarella pizza which was spectacular. You have the option to add greens and shitaki bacon to any pizza. Each pizza is a large serving for one person so I recommend coming hungary!

Pressed Juicery

An all vegan company that has locations all over the country including 11 stores in nyc. They have a subscription juice program and cleanses you can buy or they have juice sold by the bottle at the store. In some locations they have 'freeze'. Freeze is juice that have been frozen to become a soft serve consistency. They have different flavors all the time so I was able to try chocolate and strawberry almond. They have lots of topping to choose from as well including fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, cacao nibs, and granola. In my cup I got a drizzle of almond butter, coconut shavings, and granola! So delicious! And its nothing but frozen juice so it is completley guilt-free!
